A quick blog post today based on the 20 years since devolution.
- Did you know that Scotland has contributed more to the overall annual UK tax receipts on an annual basis in 12 of the last 20 years, the rUK only managed to contrinute more than Scotland on 8 occasions.
- Did you know that the rUK has only contributed more that Scotland to the overall annual UK tax receipts once (in 2014) in the last 13 years?
- Did you now that since Devolution, 20 years ago, Scotland has generated £179,448 per every man, womand and child to the total UK tax receipts versus only £171,901 for every man, woman and child in the rUK?
- Did you know that of the £179,448 that Scotland has generated over the last 20 years for every man, woman and child in Scotland, we have only received £97,978 back for us to choose how to spend it. That means the UK has retained “to spend on our behalf” £81,469 for every man, woman and child in Scotland.
Imagine what we could have done with full control over the last 20 years of £81,469 for every man, woman and child?
Its not Scotland that leeches from the Union. Its not Scotland that is poorly managing its own affairs.
Scotland could be much better. Scotland could be making its own choices.
